Here we have a super rare 1947 Eccles Enterprise caravan.
This really does deserve a loving new home and would make a stunning caravan once restored – ideal for film/ TV work and for use for vintage rallies, 40s weekends and other events, or perhaps even sited as an Air bnb?
The Enterprise was Eccles’ first post war model, and known as the first caravan to produced on a production line. However the model only ran for a couple of years and only a few hundred were made. Due to the war and then material shortages afterwards 1940s caravan production in the general was very limited and very few caravans of any make from this period survive today.
I bought this caravan about a year and a half ago with the best of intentions to restore. It came to me direct from the barn it had lived in for much of its life. I have fitted a replacement (period) jockey wheel and replaced one tyre to enable it to be moved around but otherwise it is in as found condition.
It is a four berth caravan – a dinette making a double at the front and two singles can be made to the rear. There is a folding partition to separate the two halves at night. The original enamel sink is present in the kitchen. The badges/ makers plates are also present.
