bailey touring caravan fixed bed.. we have owned this caravan for over 12 years and been trouble free until recently .On a return trip from York we arrived home to find the front window’s blinds had become detached and were now all damaged . An investigation showed us that the front timber frame has become wet and spongy . A look at YouTube on the subject showed us that Bailey’s construction during the Pageant years was not of great quality and while the ‘repairs’ seem pretty straight forward , I have neither the carpentry skills or access to a large barn to attempt the replacement of the timber. The other ‘issue’ is that since we have owned this van the two ‘wind up’ roof vents refuse to open . This has not been a problem for us as the large main roof vent simply pushes up and the van has an electric extraction fan .On the plus side , the oven , fridge , hot water , heating , microwave all work as they should and we have always kept everything clean and tidy . When GT towing last serviced the van in 2020 they noted that the tyres were then 8 years old . They still hold their air pressure and have plenty of tread but probably need replacing . The only reason we are not having the repairs done professionally is that my wife has osteoarthritis and this has made us decide to stop touring . It is time…
