This is a
classic, early to mid-eighties Avondale Caravan. It’s been at the back of
my friend’s barn since he moved in, about 20 years ago. The tyres have
been changed to tow it the 50 (trouble free) miles to my house.
As can be seen
by the photos, it’s a four berth, double at the front and bunks (with ladder!)
at the back. Removeable tables to both front and rear. Large
wardrobe. There’s also quite a large bathroom with shower, sink and space
for a porta potti/similar.
The kitchen
has sink & drainer, hot and cold water, hob, grill, oven and a three way
fridge. None of these have been tested, but I can’t see why they wouldn’t
work/be easily made to. Same with the carver gas heater.
Being so old,
there are a few things that would need to be sorted to bring it back to it’s
full glory. The floor is a bit spongy – nothing that a couple of delamination
kits wouldn’t sort. Also, there’s a small amount of damp around the front window
and where the bunk bed bracket has come away from the wall. It will also
need a new skylight (the caravan has been stored inside so this has caused no
internal damage) and a key for the door which closes and stays shut fine.
Brake lights
work fine, but one of the indicators doesn’t – I towed it like this, the
winning bidder might want to use a trailer board – upto them.
