Welcome to the auction of my fathers show stopping 4 Berth twin axle Carlight caravan Unfortunately due to injury he will no longer able to holiday by towing a caravan so it sadly is going to be sold “Please note that price is starting price only and we will NOT be selling for below this very low auction starting price”the caravan is in lovely condition and been well looked after everything works as it should The carlight caravan is the best made caravan available by any means the craftsmanship really is on a par with a rolls Royce Please take the time to read some back story on these wonderfully made caravans ” It all started when Robert ‘Bob’ Earl, a Sleaford auctioneer and an enthusiastic camper, built himself a trailer-tent and then asked a local wheelwright to build him a lightweight caravan. There was so much interest in his new caravan that he decided to go into manufacture. The local wheelwright started producing small numbers of caravans in 1930. These incorporated a streamlined design inspired by the wing section of an aeroplane that Bob Earl saw at nearby RAF Cranwell. Production increased, and in 1932 Carlight Trailers Ltd was formed and production moved to premises in Church Lane, Sleaford. The firm rapidly moved into the luxury end of the market, earning a reputation for producing the ‘Rolls Royce’ of caravans. Carlight remained very much a family company whilst based in Church Lane, with the business passing from Bob Earl to his step-grandsons, Robert and Chris Hodgson, before being sold…
