ABI Award Transtar Caravan, 2000. Condition is Used. Buyer collects.Nearly twenty years old, and showing its age in some ways, but still a nice caravan.It’s a 2 berth, with the long bench seats converting to a huge double bed. The upholstery is in very good condition, and very comfortable. The kitchen area is also in good condition, with the 4 ring hob, grill and oven in full working order. The fridge can run on electricity or gas.The bathroom is in full working order, with flushing Thetford toilet, and a surprisingly efficient shower. But the bathroom is where the caravan has problems – one wall has damage from damp. It’s unclear whether there is still water getting into the van – certainly it’s never visible when it rains, and repairs have been made to the roof in the past, so it’s possible that the damp damage is resulting from earlier rain ingress. But the result is that the wallpaper on the near side bathroom wall is coming away, to show the decayed plywood beneath. On the outside of the wall, the aluminium outer skin has corroded as a result of the damp. These issues are shown in the photos. On the off side front corner, the awning rail is coming away from the side of the caravan, suggesting that there is also damp there.The other issues are relatively minor – the kitchen window is cracked, and repaired with tape, and the heater stopped working a few months ago.
